Even if I turn AERO off, I can still see the START/Windows Logo icon on the task bar flash. It must be a fundamental Vista notification issue, but I havent see anyone with a fix yet. A semi-fix is to turn on the network icon: Right-click taskbar, go to Properties. Notification Area tab. Turn on 'Network'.
