So, to Windows Vista, the desktop is a window? I suppose it makes sense in the "everything is maximized" world of Vista, but it's just badly implemented. In Windows XP the Media Player could be minimized to show controls in the task bar so you could play, pause, etc. and also see the title of the track when hovering. Where is that option in Vista?
